About me
I shuffled my first tarot deck in 1995, a Rider-Waite Smith, and my love affair with Cartomancy began. The next year, a transfer student from Spain gave me my first card reading using playing cards and my mind was officially blown. The summer after, we moved and I started the lifelong journey of developing my intuitive skills and exploring different ways of divining the future like runes and Ogham, and cards are still my favorite.
I have studied their history and development from the cards of Madame Lenormand to the traditional Marseille Tarot. This broad understanding and appreciation of the history of the cards and development of their meanings allows me to gaze deeply into the spaces where imagery meets meaning and cards foretell outcomes.
I began my yoga journey over 25 years ago in St. Louis, MO and we have traveled together ever since. A long and winding journey from a private studio tucked away in a cul - de - sac, I have been fortunate enough to study with some amazing teachers. Every time on the mat I have learned how to integrate what works for me and what feels good into a sustainable home practice.
After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2010 I decided to pursue my yoga teacher training in order to better understand how to safely practice with my condition. I was able to integrate this knowledge with my Master’s in Social Work focusing on disabled populations and yoga instruction that supports muscle bodies and breathwork in safe and effective ways.
Every practice is an invitation to discover something new. Let’s do some yoga and see what we can find together.
As a Reiki Master I understand that ki, or chi, is universal life force energy. This energy travels constantly from the sky to the earth and back again. Similarly, in a healthy energy body, ki flows freely through the crown of our head to our feet and back again. Ki flows like water and unfortunately life is messy and can leave psychic debris to alter this flow. When your ki is low or unable to flow freely, it is more difficult to manage stress. When your ki is balanced and flowing freely, it supports the body’s own natural ability to heal. Using crystals alongside traditional Reiki symbols and techniques to help balance the chakras, it is my goal to help every client rediscover healing and relaxation. After a Reiki session, you will feel balanced and grounded. It improves your concentration, rids the body of toxins so you can better fight disease and is helpful for healing past traumas and events.
Currently, I live in Anchorage, AK. I have a Masters in Social Work from the University of New England and am a Yoga Alliance certified 200 hour teacher. An initiate of Feri and Reclaiming I constantly strive to find balance and magic everywhere and in everything. When I’m not playing in the great outdoors or gardening in my backyard, I’m usually trying a new recipe or baking treats for my friends and neighbors. Blue Poppy Intuitive Arts was born out of a desire to combine my passion for healing and cartomancy with my love of yoga. Currently I’m teaching Hatha Yoga at Open Space in Anchorage and offering reiki by appointment (www.openspacealaska.com, bluepoppyintuitive@gmail.com)
